Google Adsense Ad Limit – How to Place Google Ads

Today I am going to tell you about the latest Google Adsense Ad Limit policy of the google. I will also tell you how to place your Google ads to maximize your earnings. Google Adsense policy as well as placement of ads should always be kept in mind by the Adsense Publishers for two reasons. One, it help you to maximize your earnings in a legitimate way. Two, and more importantly it helps you not to violate Google Adsense Policy.

Google Adsense Ad Limit Removed

Google Adsense policy is very strict and it is very important to the publishers to comply with it. Otherwise Google takes no time to ban the publisher id. All my Adsense publishers know that how difficult it is to get the Adsense Publisher id. It took me almost 6 months for me to get it in 2009 when I started the blogging. Now it has become even more difficult. Google provides it very selectively therefore we should also respect the trust shown by the Google towards us.

It is also true that there are various other alternatives for Google Adsense for making money online. But the fact remains that Adsense is the most popular and trusted among all online advertising network. So the priority of every blogger should be to have an Adsense id.

There are various guidelines which every Adsense publisher should follow. I will tell you about these guidelines in the later part of the article. This article I have divided in three parts. First I will tell you about the recent changes made in the Google Adsense Policy as far as Google Adsense Ad Limit per page is concerned. Then I will tell you about what care one should take and how one should place the ads on his or her website or blog. Lastly I will tell you about the other important guidelines of Google Adsense which as a publisher we should follow.

Recent Changes in the Google Adsense Policy

Earlier Policy: Google has recently made changes in the Adsense Policy in respect of number of ads per page. This has been the most debated issue for Adsense Publishers from a long time. Most of the new bloggers often ask this question “What is the maximum number of AdSense units I can put on a page?”

The Google has long maintained certain restrictions on number of ads for a page. Earlier the Google Policy regarding Google Adsense Ad Limit was as under:

  1.  Adsense for content units – Maximum 3 Ads
  1. Adsense Link units – Maximum 3 link units
  1. Search boxes – Maximum 2 on a web page

So earlier there was a restriction on the number of ads and one can place maximum 8 Adsense Ad units in a single web page (3 Contents, 3 text links and 2 search boxes).

Latest Policy: However to the benefit of publishers Adsense has made a major modification in the policy. From August 2016, AdSense has removed restriction on number of ads per page. In other words you can now place an unlimited amount of AdSense ads on a page. Yes, you read it right, now there is no restriction on number of ads. However you have to take care that advertising and other paid promotional material added to your pages should not exceed your content. It means that although there is no restrictions on number of ads per page but at the same time you have to ensure that sufficient contents are also provided on the web page. You need to maintain the quality of your website to enjoy this facility.

Care required while placing and using Adsense on your Website

While it is very good that now there is no restriction on Google Adsense Ad Limit however one need to take utmost care in placement of ads. Right placement of ads is very important for higher revenue as well as to ensure that there is no policy violation.

Following types of placement is not allowed by Google Adsense.

Auto-refreshing ads

Do not place Ads on thank you, exit, log in, or error pages

Ads on dynamic content

Ads in emails

Advertisements in a software application are also not permitted

Ads in a new window

Pop-up windows

Pop-ups ads

Ads on pages behind a login

Ads on the same page or site as another publisher

Advertisements on a hosted site (e.g., Blogger)

Displaying a third party site on your page

As a publisher you need to take care of these aspects while using Adsense ads. Please remember if you violate Adsense Policies, Google takes no time in banning you.

Best adsense placement depends on the layout of your website or blog. The most prominent adsense ads placement is considered in the beginning as well as in the end of the post. You may also use a big banner ad in you sidebar which is also very effective.

The most popular ad size is 336 x 280. My personal experience is also like this, I got my 50% revenue from this size content ad unit.

For new users I would like to give a word of caution.

In the temptation of higher earnings the beginners often asks their friends and family members to click the ads. Please don’t do that. Google’s algorithm is very smart and knows when you’re clicking on your own ad. This can led to the ban on your adsense id.

Conclusion: So you can see that major change has been done in the Google Adsense Ad Limit policy. You may increase 1-2 ads depending upon the contents in your website but do not do more than this. Please understand for Google contents are always the king. Ads are always secondary. Support your content by ads but not vice versa.
